Self Defense When You're Pinned to a Wall by Multiple Attackers

By Jeff Anderson

Facing multiple attackers who have you backed up against a wall is a street fight self defense nightmare. When cornered this way, most people would cover up and then beg for mercy, in the hopes of not being beaten into a pulp. It can look pretty hopeless when multiple attackers have you backed up against a wall, but is there a self defense move that can get you out of this mess? Fortunately, yes. The situation isn't quite as desperate as you probably think.

Street Fight Physics How To Defend Against Multiple Attackers When Pinned Against A Wall

So, you're pinned to a wall by multiple attackers and you can't figure out how to get out of it. No matter how strong you are, there are too many attackers for you to push against to try to get away. Your brain is saying "push them away," but street fighting physics says your best self defense technique is the path of least resistance. You probably can't push multiple attackers forward, but you can move from side to side. Actually, the more your attackers are pushing you into the wall, the more sideways mobility you'll have because their force just adds to your ability to move laterally.

A Sneaky Street Fighting Self Defense Technique that can Defeat Multiple Attackers

It doesn't matter if you have two fighters or thirty-five fighters pinning you against a wall, the self defense technique I'm about to describe to you will work almost like magic. But you have to act fast because you want to avoid getting punched as much as possible. Your first move is to choose just one single person among the multiple attackers you're facing, preferably the person closest to you, but it really doesn't matter as long as he's in the close quarters combat zone. Now, reach for that person and choose any close target where you can gain leverage. My favorite is his chin because when it comes to street fighting, if you can control his head, the rest of his body will follow. However, any close leveraging target, such as the inside or outside of his elbow, will work.

Now, with one hand, reach up and quickly push your target sideways as he's pushing in toward you. Having your back against a wall will actually give you something to push off of to gain more stability and power. At the same time as you're pushing, shift your body in the opposite direction, moving laterally along the wall.

How This Street Fighting Technique Defeats Multiple Attackers So Fast...

This is where this whole self defense thing almost gets fun. All those multiple attackers pushing in on you are exerting a lot of force, and as your body slides sideways out of their way, their momentum keeps them moving forward. So, when you push the one fighter out of the way and you move along the wall, the others will crash into each other and the wall. They'll probably fall to the ground in a heap while you're making your escape through the opening you just made.

You might think I'm dreaming because I'm saying that this simple self defense move will work against multiple attackers. You can show yourself how well it works, though - just get some of your friends to push you up against a wall with all their strength and then try it for yourself.
