Just before You Begin Taking Around Knives, Please Take A Guide On The Best Way To Work with Them

By Guy B Blazzing

My old college pal contacted me to request that I enroll in a self-defense class with him all the way in Pennsylvania. He knew that I lived just at the border of a surrounding state so he thought that I would be up for it. The reality was that I needed to justify the expense of gas. My friend surprised me by saying that this seminar was about handling knives.

Instantly, I became curious. I had never thought to use knives in self-defense before. It seemed like a dangerous thing to do since I could likely stab myself but he reassured me that taking this seminar would prevent mishaps.

After some convincing, I said yes and began my drive. One of the first things that we learned was about the many kinds of knives that we would be using and how to pick the perfect one for us. Then, we were given notes on the actual defense moves and techniques.

After hearing the experts talk, I was convinced that this was a class worth taking so I came back for more. When we were done with all the sessions, we were tasked to complete a practical exam. Fortunately, we both passed and had the blessing of the teachers to go out and procure knives of our own.

Since I was an avid online shopper, I looked to the Internet for mine. One model that I was drawn to was a Pen Knife. It is a 2.13-inch blade hidden within a functioning pen. This could give me an advantage of the element of surprise against my attacker. No one would suspect that the pen I am holding has a blade inside it.

Another one that I liked was a Folding Knife with plastic handle with textured rubber inlay - 2 blades. I was attracted to this product because of its many functions. The second blade could help in doing chores around the house while the main one was used for protection.

And the last one that I coveted was a Folding Knife with anodized aluminum handle, short-blade with pocket clip. Because it had a shorter blade and a pocket clip, I was sure to have no problems bringing it with me whenever I went out. It is also easy to use because of its one-hand opening feature.

As a parting word, the lecturers explained the urgency of finding out the laws of our state regarding blades before we use them. I thanked my buddy profusely for convincing me to take those lessons. If I had not, I would not have the ability to correctly protect myself against criminals.
